The Bible in 90 Days
A couple weeks ago I
decided to do something that seemed almost impossible to me: I started a plan
on the Bible app called “The Bible in 90 Days.” I had been wanting to read
through the whole Bible, cover to cover, for the past few weeks. I’ve read
almost every book, but I wanted to read the whole thing in order all at once. I
looked into different plans, most of them taking a year or more, but I didn’t
really want it to take that long. Then I saw the Bible in 90 Days. I contemplated it for a while and wondered if I could really do it.
How would it even be possible to read the whole Bible, all 66 books (and 1,189
chapters) in just 90 days? The description of the plan said it would only take
reading about twelve pages a day to finish. That was when I realized I had no excuse. I
read all the time and can read one-hundred pages
at a time in one sitting. I knew there was no reason I couldn’t read just
twelve pages of the Bible in one day; so, I decided to start it. I’m currently
on day ten and already reading Numbers. I will admit, there have been days that
I failed to read all the required chapters and have had to hit the “catch me up”
button more than once, but it honestly isn’t as hard as I expected it to be. It’s
normally about ten chapters a day so I try to read five in the morning before I
start my day and five at night. That allows me to take my time reading them, so
I can really learn and pay attention to what I am reading. I’m so excited to
continue this plan and grow my faith and knowledge of God’s word.
I
encourage you to do something today that challenges you and that you may think
is impossible. In the end it will only grow you and make you better in so many
ways. You know what they say, “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.” You
can do anything you want in life as long as you put your mind to it and set
aside time every day to work towards it. That’s one of the reason I’m really
enjoying this plan; I have to set time aside in my day to read God’s word or I won't accomplish my goal. I hate to admit it, but it's so easy to just put it aside some days. It can be hard to put time aside for Him during college (or, honestly, just during life). I’m so busy with school work and golf, and when I’m not doing those things I’d
rather do something “entertaining.” But it comes down to the fact that your relationship with God is the most important thing in your life and should be your number one priority over anything else, especially just watching Netflix or reading a book. You will be so much happier and stress-free when you take time out of your day to spend time reading Scripture or just talking to God. He's always there and willing to listen to your problems, so do it. Talk to Him daily and I promise you a lot of your problems will go away.
I
also encourage you to download the Bible app because they offer so many things
for zero cost. I have so many Bible plans and studies saved for when I’m done
with this one, and I haven’t even looked through all of them yet. It has
something for everyone, for every season of life, and for every battle or
struggle. I don’t think you’ll regret downloading this app at all. Thanks for
reading and remember to do something that challenges you. I promise you will
only grow from it!
