How to Become a Morning Person
If you know me at all, you know that I am not a morning
person. I would sleep in until ten every morning if I could. But, sadly I can’t.
Either I have an early morning class, or I just need to get stuff done before I
get my day started. I thought it would be fun to make a list of things to do to
make yourself more of a morning person, especially since I need to start
getting in the habit of waking up a little earlier. I always want to wake up
early and give myself time to do a nice morning routine, but then my alarm goes
off and I decide I’d rather sleep than wake up. That leads to me rushing to get
ready and I’m not able to actually enjoy my morning. Hopefully these tips will
help not only you, but also me become more of a morning person and actually
enjoy the time I have before the busyness of my day starts.
Turn off your electronics before bed // I know that this can be
a hard thing to do, but the bright lights of your electronics can cause your
body difficulty in falling asleep. If you exchange your phone for a book or something without all the light your
body will be able to drift off sooner, and in return, you’ll be able to wake up easier in the morning.
Don’t sleep in on the weekends // I know you’re probably
reading this and thinking What??? The
weekends are my time to catch up on the sleep I lost during the week! Your
body will get into a sleep pattern if you do the same thing over and over again
each morning and night. If you go a whole week waking up at seven each morning,
and then wake up at nine on Saturday and Sunday, your body’s schedule will be
thrown off again and you’ll just make it harder for your body to wake up at
seven again when Monday rolls around. Stick to a certain wake up time each day
and you’ll find that it gets easier and easier to wake up that early.
Get things for the morning ready the night before // If you
have everything ready the night before, your mornings won’t be as hectic. Pack
your lunch, lay out your clothes, pack your bag. If you have these things done
before you wake up, your mornings may seem more enjoyable and you’ll find it
easier to get out of bed knowing it’s all done.
Plan out a good breakfast // If you have a breakfast that you’re
excited to eat, you might want to get out of bed just so you can go eat it!
Plan out a healthy breakfast full of protein and a delicious cup of coffee and
it might motivate you to roll out of bed just a little bit earlier.
Go to bed earlier // This may seem obvious, but it’s also
probably one of the hardest. Getting enough sleep during the night will make
you more tired, therefore making getting up in the mornings just a little bit
easier. If you struggle with this, try going to bed just a little bit earlier
each day until you reach your goal time.
